Select Comfort Launches Entirely Redesigned Line Of Sleep Number Beds

Select Comfort Launches Entirely Redesigned Line Of Sleep Number Beds

Unique Bed Benefits, Plus New Series and Models, Mean Unbeatable Consumer Value Queen c2 Mattress Starts at $699.99; One of Three Queen Sets Now Under $1,500

Minneapolis, MN (Vocus) February 26, 2009 -- In today's uncertain economy, consumers are far more considered about each and every purchase. But while they are buying fewer things, they are buying when they recognize an unbeatable value. In response to the economic environment and consumer sentiment, SELECT COMFORT (http://www.selectcomfort.com/)® Corporation (NASDAQ: SCSS), the nation's leading bed retailer and creator of the SLEEP NUMBER® bed, today announces the redesign of its entire line of popular Sleep Number beds (http://www.selectcomfort.com/air_mattress_beds/sleep_number_bed.cfm).

"For today's consumer, an unbeatable value is the right combination of product benefit, quality, durability, and price. The relaunch of the entire line of Sleep Number beds gives us the platform to increase overall value by enhancing quality and durability while actually maintaining or lowering the cost of our already-affordable products," said Kathy Roedel, executive vice president responsible for operations and new product development. "Simply put, the new line of Sleep Number beds represents a wise investment for the consumer- today and well into the future."

At the Core of the New Redesign is Value

While other manufacturers are lowering quality to lower prices, or increasing the prices of current models, Select Comfort is introducing a new line with improved overall consumer value. Specifically, the new line of Sleep Number beds includes:

* The improved quality of lower-priced models, with enhanced fabrics and added comfort layers.

* The introduction of new bed models with more competitive price points, including an entry-level Sleep Number mattress starting at $699.99, which is one of three queen bed sets priced under $1,500.

* The introduction of a value-priced Sleep Number memory foam mattress (http://www.sleepnumbermemoryfoam.com/) for those who want luxurious memory foam with the unique benefit of Sleep Number adjustability, is available with queen bed sets starting at $2,599.98.

To help consumer's choose the bed that is the best value for them, the Sleep Number bed models now are grouped into three new series titled the SLEEP NUMBER® bed Classic Series, SLEEP NUMBER® bed Performance Series and SLEEP NUMBER® bed Innovation Series.

The Sleep Number Bed Classic Series

The Sleep Number bed Classic Series is the classic design that launched a sleep revolution with personal adjustability at an affordable price. The series includes the Sleep Number c2 bed, Sleep Number c3 bed and Sleep Number c4 bed.

The Sleep Number Bed Performance Series

The Sleep Number bed Performance Series includes our most popular beds, featuring enhanced performance, comfort and a great value. The series includes the Sleep Number p5 bed, Sleep Number p6 bed and Sleep Number p7 bed.

The Sleep Number Bed Innovation Series

The Sleep Number bed Innovation Series is the premier experience in personalized comfort combined with leading-edge innovations in sleep technology. The series includes the Sleep Number i8 bed, Sleep Number i9 bed and Sleep Number i10 bed.

What Makes a Sleep Number Bed Different

Even with the redesign of the entire Sleep Number bed line, the core technology that makes the bed unique remains the same. Unlike traditional mattresses made from metal coils or springs, each Sleep Number bed model gives sleepers total control over their sleep experience because they can adjust their side of the bed to their Sleep Number setting. At the touch of a button,

sleepers can increase or decrease their Sleep Number setting - going from a soft zero to a firm 100 - to achieve the exact level of comfort, firmness and support that's ideal for them and their body.

"When you're able to adjust your side of the bed to your Sleep Number setting, uncomfortable pressure points (http://www.selectcomfort.com/sleep_number/pressure_relieving_mattress.cfm) are greatly reduced. Therefore, you're able to get truly comfortable,

you toss and turn less, and you achieve a better night's sleep," said Pete Bils, senior director of sleep innovation and clinical research for Select Comfort. "If you're part of a couple who disagrees on mattress firmness, if you suffer from back pain or general soreness and stiffness, or just can't seem to get comfortable on your current mattress, the personalized comfort of the Sleep Number bed could be ideal for you."

Consumers who want to experience the benefits, quality and affordability of the new line of Sleep Number beds can visit one of the more than 450 stores across the country, go to www.sleepnumber.com, or call 888-411-2270.

Appointment-Plus and the American Massage Therapy Association Forge Exclusive Alliance to Assist Massage Therapists

Appointment-Plus and the American Massage Therapy Association Forge Exclusive Alliance to Assist Massage Therapists

Alliance allows AMTA members to capitalize on the benefits of client self-scheduling via the Internet.

Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) February 2, 2009 -- Appointment-Plus (http://www.appointment-plus.com), the industry leader in web-based scheduling software, and the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) have announced an exclusive alliance to bring online scheduling to all AMTA members. The AMTA is one of the largest and most respected massage therapy associations in the world, representing over 58,000 therapists. Recognizing the tremendous benefits of online scheduling and client self-scheduling via the Internet, the AMTA evaluated online scheduling systems that its members might utilize. After its evaluation, the AMTA elected to make Appointment-Plus the system of choice for its members. The AMTA negotiated special pricing for all AMTA members as part of the alliance. State chapters of the AMTA will also be able to use Appointment-Plus for free, to assist with member activities.

The Appointment-Plus online scheduling system serves a wide variety of industries, but massage therapy remains one of the core user groups of the scheduling system. Because massage therapy has been a top industry since the inception of Appointment-Plus, many industry-specific features have been added to the system to accommodate massage practices. Such features include a fully integrated point of sale (POS) system, online payments, gift certificates, robust reporting, room coordination, client and staff email notifications and reminders, automated client emails to prompt scheduling, and much more. In addition, the AMTA wanted members to be able to take advantage of the free trial and free setup assistance provided by Appointment-Plus. Each AMTA member that establishes a free trial (https://www.appointment-plus1.com/ap/sign_up_ap.php) account will be provided a free dedicated setup coach to assist in customizing and optimizing the system.

The announcement of this exclusive alliance follows Appointment-Plus's appearance at the AMTA national convention in Phoenix, Arizona, last year. Appointment-Plus will once again be attending the AMTA national convention in Orlando, Florida in September, 2009, to demonstrate how online scheduling can benefit all massage therapists.

"The close relationships we have developed with the massage therapy industry have driven many of our key system developments," said Jeff Fleming of Appointment-Plus. "This alliance will allow us to continue to provide the highest quality scheduling system to massage therapists."

In addition to its close ties with the massage therapy industry, Appointment-Plus is also the exclusive provider of online scheduling software to some of the nation's largest and best-known massage schools, such as the National Holistic Institute and the Austin Schools of Massage.

Contemporary Web Plus, Inc. is a technology firm that specializes in the development of web-based scheduling and appointment software for a wide variety of applications and industries. Contemporary Web Plus's flagship product is the Appointment-Plus online scheduling system. Contemporary Web Plus software clients include Fortune 500 companies such as Pepsi and Comcast, federal and local government, universities and schools, and small/medium sized businesses worldwide. In 2007, Microsoft Corp. selected Contemporary Web Plus's Appointment-Plus software as its referral source for all Appointment Manager software clients.

Parker College Debuts the Drugless Research Hall of Fame

Parker College Debuts the Drugless Research Hall of Fame

The Drugless Research Hall of Fame, founded by Parker College of Chiropractic, honored Dr. Ron Rupert, dean of Research at Parker College, as the first inductee during the first annual Parker Gala held at the 2009 Las Vegas Parker Seminar. The Drugless Research Hall of Fame is an innovative recognition platform designed to showcase significant drug-free contributions in research worldwide.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 25, 2009 -- The Drugless Research Hall of Fame, founded by Parker College of Chiropractic, honored Dr.

"It is imperative for the profession to support chiropractic research, which will in turn impact patient outcomes, and the growth of the profession," said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic.

The Parker Research Institute has become one of the most prestigious research publishers, seeking to position itself as a global leader in chiropractic wellness research. The institute has been widely recognized through publications for its exemplary work in peer-review journals and with various honors including the 2005 World Federation of Chiropractic award for the best scientific research. It has been able to establish extensive collaborative research relationships with both the chiropractic and medical communities and will continue to leverage these relationships in the best interest of the profession.

"Our ties and growing relationships with research centers in countries like China, Spain, and Mexico provide unique research opportunities," said Dr. Rupert. "We will sustain our efforts to involve field doctors and support them by building the research they need for evidence based practice."

Research establishes credibility, plays a pivotal role in today's health care policy, and has a crucial role in issues of reimbursement. The lack of research in many areas diminishes the proper role and compensation of the chiropractic profession. The profession has a serious need for research, in areas spanning from the care of children to that of the aged, from treatment to prevention, from basic science to clinical science, and from visceral issues to somatic conditions, to name a few.

Relationships to establish collaborative research are important and should be fostered in the best interest of the profession. Some of the key research efforts for which funding is required include practice-based research, which involves participation of field doctors and "real" patients in order to document clinical effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and other outcomes; and basic science research, which deals with the physiological effects a spinal adjustment has provided a profound understanding of one mechanism by which chiropractic care helps patients. It also explores models of the vertebral subluxation.

If you are interested in contributing financially to support chiropractic wellness research, please contact Lisa A. Fellers by phone at (214) 902-3482 or by email at lfellers (at) parkercc.edu.

Special Guest Suzanne Somers Encourages Wellness at Parker Seminars

Special Guest Suzanne Somers Encourages Wellness at Parker Seminars

Actress, author, and celebrity Suzanne Somers is one of wellness' biggest supporters, and she stopped by the 2009 Las Vegas Parker Seminar to share her stories and show her support to the health care professionals who are working to make chiropractic wellness and natural lifestyles the popular choice among the public, which is proving a difficult task. As an advocate for wellness, Somers recognizes that in the United States, we don't have health care; we have disease care. Instead, she suggests, we should be treating patients using nature's tools. However, the allopathic model of medicine is so deeply engrained in society, and Americans have become so accustomed to the taste of chemicals in their food, they actually prefer it.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 23, 2009 -- Actress, author, and celebrity Suzanne Somers is one of wellness' biggest supporters, and she stopped by the 2009 Las Vegas Parker Seminar to share her stories and show her support to the health care professionals who are working to make chiropractic wellness and natural lifestyles the popular choice among the public, which is proving a difficult task.

"I'm excited to talk to all of you today because I know you get called quacks too," said Somers. "Why are we called quacks because we choose to live drug free lifestyles?"

"It's so difficult to find your way up to the top without [drugs and chemicals," said Somers. "It took a bit of work for me to get to this point…but for the first time in my life I'm balanced."

Somers is well known for her work as an actress and her bevy of weight loss books and has recently received widespread attention for her exploration of natural hormone replacement therapy. "The biggest thing of all is hormones," she said. "They are the juice of youth for all of us. But we are draining out younger and younger."

Doctors are quick to prescribe what Somers calls the "menopausal cocktail" to women, a plethora of synthetic hormones, which aren't a substitute for the natural hormones women lack. "When I was menopausal without hormones, I wasn't too happy," she said. "That's why menopausal women get that reputation. They're suffering!"

Instead, she encouraged the audience to seek out natural alternatives and focus on wellness--diet, exercise, sleep, and mental health--as ways to overcome the challenges of aging. "We can live this long and be healthy," she said. Eat real food; organic. Load up on antioxidants. Look to nature for flavor: turmeric, cayenne, thyme, basil, rosemary. Take fish oils. Sleep eight to nine hours a night. "There is a whole new world out there. If we all found out how good we could feel on non-drugs, well we wouldn't need drugs," said Somers.

"I'm a big believer in chiropractic," said Somers. "I am just a filter for all the work you all are doing. You're in the trenches. You can save [people."

For her service to the advancement of health, wellness, and humanity, Parker Seminars presented Suzanne Somers with the prestigious Back Bone Award. "Susanne has promoted a drug free world and has encouraged wellness for many years," said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic. "She has been an inspiration to so many people by engaging in natural behaviors and taking responsibility for her health."

"The most rewarding part of my career has been my work with health care," said Somers. "Thank you for the work that you all do. This award really means a lot to me, and I am honored."

Dr. John Gray Explains 'Why Mars and Venus Collide'

Dr. John Gray Explains 'Why Mars and Venus Collide'

Relationship expert and best-selling author Dr. John Gray traveled to Parker Seminars Las Vegas and exposed the fundamental differences between men and women and provided valuable advice on how to cultivate better relationships--both personal and professional--between genders. The first step towards reaching a state of harmony, according to Gray, is to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 20, 2009 -- Relationship expert and best-selling author Dr.

"John Gray has recognized there is no way to have a true, authentic, and deep relationship unless you have good health," said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic. "He is a big supporter of our profession and always mentions the importance of chiropractic care."

Gray insists the body has the potential for complete health and natural, healthy aging, but unfortunately people focus on prescription drugs and end up only seeing failed medicine. "People are hungry for something that empowers them and makes sense," said Gray. "Inspire them that they are in charge of their own health."

While most people already know they need to have good diet and exercise habits, fewer know they need to also consider stress as a strong influence on their overall health. Stress is not just a mental health issue; it also takes a toll on the physical body, producing the hormone cortisol, which increases blood pressure and blood sugar and reduces immune response. Stress is the one factor that has been linked to every sickness. So it's no wonder why in today's stressed-out world, people are unhealthier than ever.

Relationships are among the top causes of stress, but they can also be a new environment to fix the stress--if men and women learn how to relate to one another. There are physical explanations for the reasons why men and women react differently to stress. When describing themselves under moderate stress, women experience eight times the blood flow to the emotional side of the brain, whereas there is no emotional activity going on in a man's brain. "Women are not overreacting. They are having a normal reaction," said Gray. "And it's not that men don't care. Men only register to big stress."

One way to combat stress for a woman is to stimulate the production of oxytocin, a hormone proven to lower their stress. "Whenever a man does something romantic--it doesn't matter if it's big or small--it stimulates oxytocin," said Gray. "Men make the mistake of doing big stuff thinking it's going to last a long time. That's why they end up feeling like whatever they do, it doesn't seem to be enough."

Talking about problems is another big oxytocin producer in women, which may lower their stress, but can do just the opposite for men. "Men need to fix things, solve problems, and feel important," said Gray, which increases their testosterone--the hormone that lowers cortisol levels. "The bigger the problem, the more testosterone." However, 90 percent of the things women talk about have no solution. Men think if there's nothing they can do and no way to solve the problem, then why talk about it?

By recognizing these biological differences and making an effort to be more understanding, men and women have the potential to reduce their own stress and help relieve the stress of their counterparts.
